The following are rules that challengers and members of the Lualdi Pokémon League must adhere to in official League matches.
To ensure equality and that matches are based on strategy and skill than brute force, Lualdi Pokémon League teams will scale to the level of challenging trainers' Pokémon. However, Gym Pokémon will not scale below level 30, and Elite Four Pokémon will not scale below level 60.
Scaled-down Pokémon will still be in their usual evolutionary form, even if they are scaled to a level below which they would evolve. Their movesets will also remain the same even if they would not know that move at their new level.
You may only have one ongoing challenge against a Lualdi Pokémon League representative at a time.
To challenge the Elite Four, you must have defeated all nine of Lualdi's Gyms at least once.
Gym battles are four-on-four and are single battles. Both the Gym Leader and the challenger may select these four from a team of six. You do not need to declare which four Pokémon you will be using before the match begins and can decide depending on what your opponent uses what to send out. However, using more than four Pokémon in a given Gym match will disqualify you from the challenge.
Elite Four matches are six-on-six and are four single battles that will occur in sequence. A maximum of one item may be used on every Pokémon on the challenger's team between Elite Four battles.
If a challenger uses an item during a battle, the Gym Leader or Elite Four member may also use the same item.
Pokémon that are "borrowed from the Stantler Inn" -- i.e. "Quest Pokémon" -- are ineligible for use in Gym matches.
One-hit K.O. moves such as Sheer Cold or Fissure may not be used by either the challenger or the Lualdi Pokémon League representative during League battles.
Defeating a Gym will add your name and Pokémon team to the Victorious Challengers listing in that Gym. You will also receive a Pokémon of your choosing that matches one or both of the specialized types in that Gym (such as an Eevee from Lossulli, which has Normal/Fire as its types). The prize Pokémon's level will be averaged to the victorious team you used against the Gym and will have a randomly selected moveset. It will not have any special moves (such as Move Tutor moves or egg moves) or abilities (Dream World).
The monetary reward for defeating a Gym is 1,000 spruzzo times how many Gyms you have defeated. Thus, you will get 1,000 spruzzo for your first victory, 2,000 for your second, and so on.
If you have defeated a Gym, you have the option of challenging it again to a six-on-six double battle with a different team. Double battle victories count towards the scaling monetary reward (so defeating a single battle Gym and a doubles Gym counts the same as defeating two single Gym battles).
Subsequent victories in Gyms whose teams you have already beaten (e.g. winning against Lossulli's single battle team twice or defeating Tuttosol's doubles team twice) do not count in determining victory money. You also do not receive a prize Pokémon for beating the same team twice, and your monetary reward will be a flat 2,000 spruzzo regardless of how many Gyms you have defeated.
The reward for defeating the Elite Four is a closely-guarded secret revealed only to Lualdi Champions that defeat them.
